Class types

Gentle Hatha / Blid hatha

A gentler form of hatha. However, the work is less muscular and approx. half the hour is spent in restorative positions, where you rest in each yogapose, supported by bolsters, blocks and blankets.
It is recommended to bring socks and extra sweater.
__________

Morning flow and stretch.

We often start by centering to be aware of the body and the mind and start out slowly with some gentle stretches and movement to warm up before continuing into the more dynamic practice, the morning flow.
A class where there is time to be in the asanas (poses), to open up, extend, stretch and reach, but also the practice of the more dynamic sun salutation and strenghtening and grounding through standing poses, We aim for a nice balance between strength, stretch and relaxation so you will leave the class energized and relaxed.

An early class where you will enjoy the effect of the yoga all day.
__________

Hatha

Hatha yoga is the classic form of yoga. We focus on the asanas (yogaposes), so we ensure that we are learning the right alignment, and that you can feel and use your breathing as an active part of the yoga pose. The whole body is worked through so that it is strengthened and relaxed, both physically and mentally.
__________

Hatha flow /  Flow

Hatha flow is a dynamic form of yoga, where we, as in hatha yoga instruct the poses alignment cues but also focus on weaving the yogaposes (asanas) together into a flow.

Hatha flow ofte has more time in the yogaposes than a Vinyasa class, but like Vinyasa, Hatha flow also links the poses together and works with the breath and the transition between the poses. Hatha flow instructions invites more stretch and reach and focus often on being aware on sensing and how to breath into more spaciousness. A flow with more time.
__________

Restorative yoga

Restorative yoga classes are very relaxing.
It is is a passive, meditative form of yoga that allows you to focus on your breath while releasing tension in your body.
Props, like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are used to help you feel supported in the restorative poses so you can relax physically, mentally and emotionally.
The yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes a relaxation response and reduces stress in our bodies.

The class is appropriate for all levels as it is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on stillness, and deep breathing.
This practice is great to balance an active (yoga) schedule or to give yourself a nourishing break.

It is recommended to bring socks, an extra sweater, and a blanket or scarf to use on top of borrowed props __________

Vijnana yoga – Evening flow

Vijnana Yoga combines the practice of meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), asana (postures) and the study of scripture.
The word Vijnana includes in its translation understanding, knowledge, skill, art and science and the emphasis in this practice is on internal sense of connectedness.

Emphasizing both flow and precision we follow 7 vital principles: relaxing the body, quieting the mind, focusing through intent, rooting, connecting, awareness of breath, and expansion. These guiding principles invites you to pay attention and from within to see , feel, understand and act skilfully.

A practice that invites you to feel, to understand and to practice yoga from within.
__________

Vinyasa

In a vinyasa class we move in a flow with focus on the breath. Vinyasa means ‘to place in a special way’,
In the class there is focus on the alignment in the poses but we dont stay as long as in a Hatha class and focus is also on the transitions between the poses .
Often you will find sun salutation in the class and that the class is more physical challenging.
__________

Yang Yin Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses (yin) with more dynamic sequences and standing postures. Yin works on the deep, dense connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga, in contrast, refers to a more active practice like Hatha or Vinyasa yoga.

A class to drop from the busy head to the body to begin with and then soften into stillness.
__________

Yin yoga

Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative yoga style, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time, often 3- 5 minutes, than you would in other traditional types of yoga, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts. Yin is a meditative practice.

The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely.
By holding the various poses, a yin yoga sequence can help restore the healthy flow of Qi in our bodies and therefore help with our wellbeing.
__________

Levels

We have divided our classes into different levels.
Here is a small description of what they are, ask your teacher if you are in doubt about where to start or if you would like to know more before taking an I-II or II class.

I: class is for everyone. Both beginners and experienced. Time is spent explaining most positions and everyone can benefit from these hours regardless of your level.
I-II: The class is from easily practiced. Beginners with courage may be involved, but it is a clear advantage that you have a good basic knowledge of the yoga positions and have the courage to be challenged with more advanced positions (handstand, headstand, arm balances, etc.)
II:The class is for Practitioners. Requires that you have been practicing yoga for a while and have a good grasp of all the basics.
